Planning Applications

******Updated June 21st ****

Although the official period has now closed for commenting on all 11 planning applications, you can write to all councillors, Msps, Meps and Mps.  See TAKE ACTION in left hand menu - AND OF course write to newspapers and discuss/post on the web.

See how to object to all of Caltongate in one minute http://eh8.org.uk/object_now

THE PLANS HAVE NOT BEEN APPROVED

YOU CAN OBJECT TO THE PLANS NOW

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING VERY CAREFULLY BEFORE MAKING YOUR OBJECTIONS

PRINT IT OFF AND READ AT YOUR LEISURE

YOU HAVE UNTIL END OF BUSINESS Wednesday 13th JUNE TO MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD AND PLAY YOUR PART IN SAVING THE CAPITAL`S HISTORIC CORE.

ANYONE CAN OBJECT REGARDLESS OF AGE, NATIONALITY OR WHERE THEY LIVE.

This is to guide you through how to object to all 11 planning applications submitted by developers Mountgrange. You must object before the end of business on Wednesday 13th June 2007.
However you make your feelings known, your objections can be as long or as short as you feel inclined, but DO include "material" objections as shown below to make them COUNT.  The more objections received the more they will see that this is WRONG for the Capital`s Historic Core...and you will be proud to say you played your part.
You can object to one, two or all of them...the more the better.

See http://eh8.org.uk/letter_writing on how to write to your councillor(s), Planning Committee and Msps and MP

The plans have NOT been approved.

REMEMBER TO CHECK THE OBJECT BOX AS THE DEFAULT IS ON I SUPPORT APPLICATION!!

SO EVEN IF YOUR WHOLE WRITTEN SUBMISSION IS OBVIOUSLY AGAINST THE APPLICATION IT WILL BE COUNTED AS ONE OF SUPPORT IF THIS BOX IS NOT UNCHECKED

Below are points that will make your OBJECTIONS COUNT as they must include `MATERIAL` PLANNING CONCERNS (e.g. Planning Policies, standard of design, impact of uses and transport on area) so remember to make reference to any or all of the following-

The plans DO NOT accord with LOCAL or NATIONAL Policy.

  • NPPG 18 (planning and the Historic Environment)
  • Policies ENV1C and ENV1D of Edinburgh & the Lothians Structure Plan (World Heritage Site and Conservation Areas)
  • Policies CD2, CD3 CD4, CD5, CD12 and CD13 of the Central Area Local Plan (conservation and design)
  • Policy T10 of the Central Edinburgh Local Plan (pedestrian environment)
  • The design, layout and mix of uses will cause loss of amenity to existing and new residential properties.
  • The design is alien to the historic character of the area.
  •  The City of Edinburgh Council have a financial interest in the planned development and therefore cannot remain impartial.

THIS DECISION MUST BE TAKEN AT A HIGHER LEVEL

*****OBJECT NOW THINK GLOBAL ACT LOCAL*****
